A good digital response to 'smart ports'
The ports of Antwerp, Barcelona, Busan, Hamburg, Los Angeles, Montreal and Rotterdam have joined forces to present their most innovative projects in digitalisation and sustainability. On the 17 and 18 November, the second and digital edition of the platform ‘Smart Ports: Piers of the Future’ brought together almost 6,000 unique users from five continents to share initiatives in innovation, digitalisation and sustainability.
Twelve projects were presented and seven sessions were held to discuss the importance of port-city relations, digital transformation and the use of new technologies to discern the future horizon of the port and maritime sector.
Mercè Conesa, president of the Port of Barcelona, commented on this edition held under the slogan "Thinking ahead, globally": "Despite the complications caused by Covid-19, we are very proud that the event has been a great success, and the Port of Barcelona continues to wish to carry this forward.
