A hydrogen corridor from Bilbao to Amsterdam

At a high-profile meeting in Amsterdam, which was held in the presence of the kings of the Netherlands and Spain, the port of Bilbao showcased its role in developing a European renewable hydrogen corridor with the port of Amsterdam. The aim of the initiative is to advance the production, transport, and logistics of green hydrogen, contributing to decarbonisation efforts towards net-zero emissions.

The event was attended by business and institutional representatives from the Netherlands and Spain, including Andima Ormaetxe from the port of Bilbao, who highlighted the port's strategic projects and its commitment to becoming a major player in this corridor. Stakeholders such as Petronor and the Basque Energy Agency also discussed their involvement and the expected challenges in establishing this hydrogen supply chain.

Backed by a significant investment, the project aligns with EU ambitions to establish intra-European energy corridors, with support from the Dutch and Spanish governments. (pb)
