A Kiwi cold chain hub

Maersk has opened a new cold chain site at the Ruakura Superhub, its biggest infrastructure investment in New Zealand to date. Valued at NZD 140—150 million and built for multimodal activities, the 18,000 sqm cold chain facility will connect Maersk to key points for freight flow, such as Auckland and Tauranga. It has direct rail access to these ports and can also be reached by a dual-carriage highway.

With a capacity of 30,000 pallet positions, goods can be frozen to international food standards in less than 24 hours. The hub contains different temperature-controlled spaces, each catering to different climate requirements.

“We have operated in New Zealand for 27 years – and we are enthusiastic about fostering sustained growth and forging these long-term partnerships with our customers,” says Vincent Clerc, CEO of A.P. Moller-Maersk mk)
