A new service up north

Samskip, a Dutch multimodal company with a focus on intra-European traffic, is going back to its roots. Although the company’s head office is located in Rotterdam, Samskip was originally founded in Iceland in 1990.

The carrier is launching a new weekly service connecting Rotterdam to ports in the north. Samskip’s vessel will call at APM Terminals in the Swedish port of Gothenburg for the first time at the beginning of April. The vessel will then continue its journey to Runavik (Faroe Islands) and Reykjavik (Iceland), to get back to Rotterdam four days later.

“The new call is more than a lifeline between Iceland and Sweden; it also represents the starting point for a competitive and sustainable shortsea offer,” said Brian Bitsch, CCO at APM Terminals, in a press release. (sh)
