A Parisian forum for sustainable logistics

Segro recently opened the “house of sustainable logistics” in its Centre Paris Les Gobelins, located in the 13th arrondissement of the city, where it will host a series of events.

On 26 March, a roundtable brought together industry experts to discuss topics centering on sustainability and urban logistics. Subjects included AI as a tool for optimising logistics flows, the design of delivery vehicles, and the future of cargo handling.

Prototypes were showcased, tackling different aspects of sustainable transport. The exhibits comprised a cargo train with flexible volumes, a cyclo-electric hybrid and modular battery van, and three exoskeletons, all targeting emissions reduction and process optimisation.

The “house of sustainable urban logistics” is a collaborative platform for public and private players, start-ups, academics, and experts to develop specific solutions that reconcile the logistics imperatives of cities with their environmental challenges, Segro said. The project is in line with the company’s long-term strategy to promote low-carbon growth, invest in local communities and nurture talent. (mk)
