A partnership in Egypt extended

Alberto Musso, the president of the Tarros Group, recently visited the group’s Med Egypt new Egyptian headquarters. Since April 2018, Med Egypt has been Tarros’ official local agent in Egypt. The main office is located in Alexandria, with branch offices in Cairo and Port Said.

With a workforce of 57 the company offers activities related to shipping and logistics, such as storing all different types of empty containers, repairing and maintaining the equipment as well as overland services with its own trucks.

Musso commented: “I’m very happy to see what we’ve managed in Egypt, together with our partner Hany H. Rashid. Thanks to the commitment and determination of both sides we’ve created an efficient system that can deal professionally with every issue related to container logistics. Today, Med Egypt is a point of reference for services provided to our customers in Egypt. Thank you, Hany, and thanks to all the staff.”

Hany Abdel Rashid, Med Egypt managing director and CEO, replied that it is “an honour to welcome Alberto Musso in Egypt. We’d like to express our sincere appreciation for his continuous support for the Egyptian representation of the Tarros Group and the great interest he has shown in the efforts made by the Med Egypt team, and the major development in the Egyptian market. We’re sure that after his visit, we at the Tarros Group will take our cooperation to a different level.”

Both sides saw the visit as a good opportunity to plan new development projects between the Italian holding and the Egyptian headquarters. In 42 months, Med Egypt moved 109,700 teu (import and export), with a monthly average of 2,612 teu transported by its main services GPS (124 calls), ADL (157 Calls) and TLS (130 calls). In the depot and workshop department, besides stocking all container empties, necessary repairs on 2,252 teu were carried out during the first nine months of 2021.

In April 2021, the logistics department was launched, with its own trucks taking over transport services for the repositioning of empty units to be loaded from the terminal El Dekheila and in the port of Alexandria, and to deliver full containers to clients. (cd)
