A stronger Royal Mail

In the first three quarters of its fiscal year, the British Royal Mail Group achieved revenues of GBP 9.3 billion (EUR 10.7 billion), a significant rise of 13.5% compared to 2019. Amongst others, the group has delivered around one billion items of PPE so far.

Its international affiliate GLS delivered 228 million parcels in its Q3, a growth rate of 27%. Royal Mail parcel total volumes were up 31% (Q3: 30.0%).

Most important growth drivers were again e-commerce as well as the introduction of tighter Covid-19 restrictions in the UK. Royal Mail results are for the nine months ended 27 December 2020. GLS results are for the nine months to 31 December 2020.

Looking into 2021, the company will retain around 10,000 of the 33,000 flexible workers from the Christmas period. (sh)
