In order to provide container terminal and stevedoring services in the Port of Charleston in South Carolina, the three service providers Marine Terminals Corporation – East (Ports America), Ceres Marine Terminals (Ceres), and SSA Atlantic (SSA) have come together to form a joint venture company. The new JV, known as Charleston Stevedoring Company LLC (CSC), started operations on 4 May.

SCPA president and CEO Jim Newsome said in a press release: “CSC will enhance the ability to market the Port of Charleston to a broader customer base.”

While Ports America is a major terminal operator and stevedore in USA, Ceres is a transportation service provider, with stevedoring and terminal operations across multiple cargo types and SSA, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Carrix, is a marine and rail terminal operator in the Americas and beyond.
