AEI receives DGCA approval
Aeronautical Engineers (AEI) has announced that India's director general of civil aviation (DGCA) has granted approval for its supplemental type certificate (STC) for the B737-800SF freighter conversion. This approval adds to AEI's certifications from multiple aviation authorities, including FAA and EASA.
Chennai-based Afcom Holding Limited is set to operate a previously converted AEI B737-800SF (MSN 33003) on lease, expanding AEI's presence in the Indian market. Robert T. Convey, AEI's senior vice president of sales and marketing, stated that the B737-800SF will provide Indian cargo operators with an efficient and cost-effective solution, especially important for the growing e-commerce sector.
The AEI B737-800SF offers a main deck payload of up to 25,000 kg, eleven full-height container positions and a large main cargo door, designed to enhance loading efficiency while minimising potential damage.
