Aeroflot becomes first Russian A350 operator


Aeroflot has presented its inaugural Airbus A350-900, becoming the first operator in Russia of this widebody passenger aircraft that has a bellyhold capacity for 36 ULD.

 

Named after the composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky (born on 7 May 1840), the new aircraft featuring a new livery made its first commercial flight on 6 March, and will support Aeroflot's network expansion.

 

Russia's flag carrier will take delivery of eleven A350s by the end of 2020, and deploy them on new routes from Moscow to Osaka and Singapore, with further plans to operate them on other popular routes including Delhi, London, New York, Miami and Tel Aviv.

 

In January 2020, Aeroflot Group's fleet composed of 363 aircraft carried 23,385 t of cargo and mail, 17.4% more than in January 2019, 13,472 t (+15.4%) of them on international routes. (ah)
