Air India Ahmedabad - LHR - EWR

Today (15 August 2016), Air India is resuming flights on the Ahmedabad – London Heathrow – Newark/New York (EWR) route, for the first time since 2008/2009. The Indian carrier will provide three services per week with Boeing B787-8 aircraft.

Additionally, Air India will commence a once weekly Ahmedabad – London Heathrow flight from 21 August. On the same day, the airline will reduce its existing treble daily B787-8 Delhi – London Heathrow service to double daily.

Ahmedabad also seems to be an attractive destination for a new, UK-based airline named People Over Profit (POP). POP plans to be the first airline to operate non-stop flights between the UK and two Indian cities - Ahmedabad and Amritsar.

With the long historical links between the two countries, POP sees the UK’s decision to leave the EU as creating potential new opportunities for its planned air cargo operations.

The air transport provider aims to open up new trading links not only between the UK and northern India, in both directions, but also with the wider world through agreements with other air cargo operators.
