Air India ships 1,000 t of mangos

Air India shipped nearly 1,000 t of Indian mangoes in April, linking farms in Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh to markets in Europe, North America, the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific region.

With demand soaring, the airline relies on APEDA-certified cold chain facilities — approved by India’s export authority for processed foods (Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority) — to ensure temperature-controlled handling. Thermal blankets and cool dollies keep the fruit fresh en route to destinations like Frankfurt, New York and Sydney.

Head of Cargo Ramesh Mamidala sees mangoes as a flagship seasonal segment. The airline’s network and precision logistics highlight its growing role in farm-to-market supply chains for perishables. (ah)
