Air India to add belly capacity to Saudi Arabia
From Sunday, 16 February 2020, Air India is adding a Calicut – Jeddah service, as the Star Alliance member schedules two weekly flights operated by B747-400 aircraft. The Indian flag carrier reserves 14.1 t of the 55.6 t of the total capacity payload for cargo shipments.
Located in the south-western Indian state of Kerala, CCJ airport saw a big increase in freight volumes: From April to December 2019, it handled 21,508 t, which was 86.2% more than in the same period the year before.
According to the Airports Authority of India, only Delhi (740,886 t, -5.6%), Mumbai (661,636 t, -9.2%), Bangalore (288,455 t, -2.5%), Chennai (275,107 t, -12.9%), Kolkata (121,588 t, +0.8%), Hyderabad (110,252 t, +1.3%), Ahmedabad (82,899 t, +5.7%), Cochin (57,628 t, +11.6%) and Pune (28,610 t, -25.5%) handled more.
