                        Alternative China-UK route
The Russian Railways’ Holding (RZD) has helped organise a multimodal transit shipment of goods from China to Great Britain via Kaliningrad (Russia).
A container train loaded with 50 ft containers travelled from the Chinese city of Xian through the Altynkol border crossing point in Kazakhstan as part of the regular service operated by UTLC ERA.
RZD Logistics was the operator of this shipment on the 1,520 mm broad gauge standard track. The consignment duly arrived at the terminal of the sea port at Kaliningrad for transfer to a vessel and further delivery to the port of Immingham, UK.
This new route offers the shipper another option for transports from China to the UK and vice versa, RZD said. (ben)
