Amsterdam and Duisport going greener

The Ports of Amsterdam and Duisport are deepening their cooperation to jointly develop the hydrogen value chain and their hinterland networks in their respective regions. Markus Bangen, CEO at Duisport, and Koen Overtoom, CEO at Port of Amsterdam, have inked a memorandum of understanding for this purpose.

The ports are directly connected via the river Rhine and multiple land routes and serve as logistics hubs for the European hinterland. In the tradition of facilitating important trade flows between Germany and the Netherlands, their joint participation company, Hafen Duisburg / Amsterdam Beteiligungsgesellschaft, will now enter a new phase.

Both ports will jointly explore the potential of several hydrogen carrier technologies, with the aim of establishing an international supply chain for hydrogen on a commercial scale. Since the Port of Amsterdam is part of the H2A consortium, which includes multiple players in the hydrogen industry, it forms a platform that can now be connected to Duisport. (sh)
