And pigs can fly!

Intradco Global, part of Chapman Freeborn, has completed the live animal transport by air of 1,200 breeding pigs from Denmark to the Philippines. The pigs, destined for genetic multiplication on a client’s farm, were flown aboard a chartered B747-400F freighter.

Aiming to ensure welfare, Intradco designed custom-built wooden crates fitted with watering systems. The pigs were transferred using a purpose-built 'pig lift', a converted van enabling loading without steep ramps.

During the flight, welfare was supervised by Intradco specialists and a client representative, ensuring coordination with the crew and handlers. The project followed three months of preparation, including quarantine and special diets for the pigs. (js)
