Another cargo only ferry service

The Compagnie Luxembourgeoise de Navigation (CLdN) has launched a new ro-ro service between the ports of Santander, Liverpool and Dublin.

CLdN will operate one sailing per week from Santander to Liverpool, followed by a call in Dublin. The schedule is designed to be flexible, enabling the vessel to make additional Irish Sea calls between Liverpool and Dublin before returning to Santander.

The cargo is moved in an unaccompanied mode, without a truck-driver, on pure freight ferries, which are subject to fewer anti-pandemic measures than driver or passenger transport.

The liner spoke of an increasing demand from trailer, container and project cargo operators for a direct connection from Iberia to the UK and Ireland in certain markets. (mw)
