Arkas orders eco-vessels

Arkas, a leading Turkish container shipping line, is scaling up its liner fleet to 59 vessels by 2028, reinforcing its strategic role in regional and intercontinental trade.

The company has ordered ten next-generation containerships — six 4,300 teu and four 3,100 teu units — from CSSC Huangpu Wenchong in China, backed by long-term financing from CIMC Financial Leasing.

Its total capacity will thus rise from 86,430 to 124,630 teu. Deliveries will begin in 2027.

All vessels have been designed for fuel efficiency and are equipped with carbon-monitoring systems. As Turkey emerges as a growing maritime hub, Arkas said that it is positioning itself as a sustainability-driven player shaping the future of liner services in the Eastern Med and of green shipping corridors.
