Asco wins new contract in Tanzania
The Asco Group, a leading international oil and gas services company, has won a major three-year contract, valued at around USD 100 million, to provide supply base services to BG in Tanzania. The contract will be fulfilled via the port of Mtwara and will provide jobs for over 100 local people. The new contract will see Asco work for a number of partners – BG, Statoil, Petrobras and Ophir. The four operators are engaged in deepwater exploration off the Tanzanian coast. Under the terms of the pact, Asco will control all the supply base operations that support the offshore exploration programme of recent major gas finds. These shore-based services will include warehousing, vessel loading and unloading, pipe yard storage, the provision of bulk chemicals, as well as facilities management services.
