ASL Airlines Ireland ready for ATR 72-600F

ASL Airlines Ireland confirms it would take a total of five ATR72-600F from the batch of 30 (+20 on option) ordered in 2017 by Fedex Express. As the launch carrier, the Irish airline will operate the turboprops on behalf of Fedex. The first aircraft will be delivered in early 2021.

The newest variant of the Avions de Transport Régional turboprop conducted its first test flight at Toulouse (France) airport last month. The ATR72-600F will be ATR's first dedicated freighter based on the -600 sub variant which does not exist as a freighter, neither new-build nor P2F-converted.

ASL Airlines Ireland operates five ATR42-300F, 13 ATR72-200F (photo) and two ATR72-500F on behalf of Fedex. All of these aircraft are owned by various ASL Aviation Holdings entities, except for one dry-leased from TrueNoord. (ah)
