ASL expands its assets

The Hong Kong-based carrier Asean Seas Line (ASL), founded in 2011, is planning to expand its fleet. Four newbuilds with a capacity of 1,100 teu each will be launched at China State Shipbuilding Corp's leasing unit, CSSC Shipping.

CA Shipping, the Hong Kong-incorporated special-purpose vehicle that ordered the ships, is a joint-venture between CSSC Shipping and the holding company ASL Shipping. The new units with a value of approx. USD 23 each, are scheduled for delivery in the course of 2024.

ASL, which offers services to ports in China, Japan, Vietnam, the Philippines, Thailand, South Korea and Indonesia, has been operating eight to ten ships with capacities ranging from 350 teu to 1,600 teu, usually chartered for one-year terms. (sh)
