Atlas opens new cargo hub at MIA

Atlas Air Worldwide has opened its new Miami operations gateway at Miami international airport (MIA), relocating to a 23,200 sqm cargo facility – including a 11,500 sqm perishable cooler, the largest of its kind on any North American airport. The move gives Atlas full control over warehousing and apron access, improving turnaround and reducing aircraft downtime.

CEO Michael Steen said the expansion "adds great value" and supports high-volume trade between South America, Asia and Europe. MIA is one of Atlas’ busiest hubs, handling over 500,000 t of freight yearly. The new site boosts Atlas’ capabilities in handling time- and temperature-sensitive cargo like perishables and pharmaceuticals.

With nearly 800 staff in Florida and strong community ties, Atlas says the move reinforces its long-term commitment to Southeast Florida’s role in global logistics. (ah)
