Avianca Cargo moves over 20,000 t of flowers
Avianca Cargo has set a new record by transporting over 20,100 t of flowers during this year’s Mother’s Day season – a 15% increase year-on-year.
The flowers, flown from Colombia and Ecuador to the USA and Europe on 300 dedicated flights, strengthen Avianca’s lead as the flower carrier from Colombia to the USA. Miami handled over 85% of the goods, supported by round-the-clock operations and a 30% increase in local staff.
Diogo Elias (far right), who was recently promoted from managing director to CEO of Avianca Cargo said that "we thrilled to celebrate a record that reaffirms our market position. Each of these 20,100 tonnes is a joint achievement.”
Avianca holds ‘CEIV Fresh’ certification and moved over 150,000 t of flowers in 2024. Miami airport praised the airline’s vital role in floral logistics. (ah)
