BAL goes for expansion
According to Clarkson, the Hong Kong-registered Chinese containership operator BAL Container Line is currently also opting for newbuilds, like other liners.
Two new vessels with a capacity of 14,000 teu each will be built at Jiangnan Shipyard and are expected to be ready for delivery in 2025. The order comes with options for two more ships.
Based in Qingdao in Shandong province, BAL has been an affiliate of Shandong Lcang International Logistics, a national branch network including all China’s major terminals, since 2012. The shipping line has recently become an intra-Asia operator. First services on the transpacific and Asia-Europe trade lanes began in 2021. (sh)
