Barcelona sets three major targets for 2025

In a recent online presentation, the Port of Barcelona put forward the major goals of its fourth strategic plan for 2021-2025. Three quantifiable milestones are key, as explained by Mercè Conesa, president of the Port of Barcelona.

With regards to economic sustainability, the quantitative aim is to raise the value of foreign trade passing through the port from the current EUR 65 billion to EUR 70 billion by 2025.

In environmental sustainability, the plan is to electrify 50% of container and ro-ro docks and to have a provisional network and OPS connections consolidated or with electrification projects underway. As far as the workforce is concerned, the goal is to have 40,000 people working daily or regularly at the port.

Conesa presented the fourth strategic plan along with José Alberto Carbonell, general manager of the Port of Barcelona, and Joaquim Llansó, vice president of the business association Foment de Treball. (cd)
