Belavia and Minsk maintain their course

Belavia – Belarusian Airlines is maintaining the planned service resumption for its Minsk – Vienna route, previously served until March 2002. Initially scheduled to restart on 29 March 2020, the service should begin tomorrow, 25 April. Planned to operate with E195 equipment, this has been revised to B737-800 aircraft which also offer a notable 44 cbm cargo capacity.

Minsk airport (MSQ) currently handles 15-16 flights per day (in April 2019 approximately 120), plus cargo-only flights. In Q1, freight volumes rose to 4,792 t, 32.6% up on Q1/2019. To encourage the flow of freight traffic, Minsk has introduced 50% discounts off service fees for handling those freight services carrying pharma products and medical equipment, as well as on wholesale volumes of cargo arriving by road.
