Belgian port to receive better rail access

Infrabel, Begium's infrastructure manager, is investing millions of euros to renew the existing railway infrastructure leading to the port of Zeebrugge. The optimisation of the track changes in Dudzele will benefit the port's accessibility for railway cargo.

The project includes the placement of five new track changes, which are over 100 m long. They are custom-made in Bascoup in Belgium. The new track changes are mounted on a concrete cross-beam and weigh 112 t each.

They are placed in such a manner as to increase capacity. Thirty-eight thousand trains passed the railway switch located in Dudzele, about 10 km from the port, in 2019. (ben)
