Better screening at USA's biggest mail facility

The International Mail Facility (IMF) at New York JFK has undergone a multi-million-dollar renovation. Troy Miller, senior official performing the duties of the commissioner: "I am immensely proud to cut this ribbon and step into a new era of narcotics detection and border security. This redesigned space and the new IDSS machines will be critical in our effort to identify and disrupt the transnational criminal organisations who ship these deadly drugs through our international mail system."

The IMF at JFK processes more than half of all the incoming international mail into the USA, roughly 1 million letters/packages/parcels, etc. daily. In 2019, US Customs and Border Protection reported 8,000 drug seizures, which totalled more than 3,500 kg of drugs, a number that nearly doubled (15,000) last year. (ah)
