BG Freight Line links Dunkirk, Dublin and Cork

In the short sea shipping sector, BG Freight Line has decided to establish a service to and from the Republic of Ireland. Three vessels with a capacity of 1,000 teu each, furnished with reefer equipment, will call Dunkirk (France), and Dublin and Cork in Ireland on a weekly basis.

The line, which has been present at the port of Dunkirk since 2010, now implements an environmentally friendly mode of transport, by using the 45' container which allows the shipment of cargo equivalent to truck loads on this direct maritime route.

Stéphane Raison, chairman of the management board of the port of Dunkirk, is delighted with this announcement: "By adding Ireland to our network of maritime solutions, the port of Dunkirk reinforces its position as a transhipment port in the service of parent lines, but also offers a real alternative to European economic players having regular exchanges with the Republic of Ireland".
