Big purchase for Pilot Freight Services

Pilot Freight Services, a global logistics services provider which was founded in Philadelphia in 1971 and bought by Phillips in 1993, has acquired the American Linehaul Corporation (ALC), a non-asset based provider of expedited LTL (less than truckload) services in the United States.

Founded in 2001, ALC offers a scheduled airport-to-airport linehaul service from 66 origins to over 70 destinations in USA, serviced through seven regional hubs. The transaction came into effect on 30 July 2021. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

The services acquired are especially time-definite shipments to handle e-commerce products that no longer fit into traditional expedited LTL networks.

Operating as a separate entity under the American Linehaul name, ALC founders Enzo & Beth Vartuli will lead the partnership with their key management personnel. Pilot as a firm is backed by ATL Partners and British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI). (sh)
