BLG applies data to planning
BLG Logistics has reported the deployment of 'MotionMiners' automated process analysis at its Hamburg vehicle terminal, to optimise operations in automotive and contract logistics.
Using wearable sensors and bluetooth beacons, real movement data was collected over two weeks, revealing optimisation potential in "space usage, driving/walking distances and ergonomics", according to project manager Kolja Dittmann.
As a result, BLG will consolidate three service areas under one roof and eliminate the need for an entire hall. The data will also inform the design of a new multifunctional facility, while ergonomic solutions, including exoskeletons and work stools, are under evaluation, according to Dittmann. (js)
