BMW wins Austrian logistics award
The Austrian Logistics Award 2025 goes to BMW Motoren in Steyr. At this week's VNL Logistics Day in Linz, the company was honoured for its 'Logistik-Kompass' project, which integrates logistics for internal combustion and electric engines.
The solution is based on lean, green, digital and people-focused principles. It has cut logistics costs by 25%, saved 900 t of fuel and reduced CO₂ emissions by 2,770 t annually. Digital tools, autonomous systems and employee engagement played a key role.
The jury praised the flexible warehouse model, 100% delivery and sequencing accuracy and the ability to adapt production plans up to the last minute – all part of a scalable model for sustainable logistics excellence. (ah)
