Bosch wins German Future Prize
Bosch's fuel-cell power module (FCPM) has won the German Future Prize 2025, recognised as a key technology for climate-neutral mobility. Led by Christoffer Uhr, Kai Weeber and Pierre Andrieu, the system converts hydrogen and oxygen into electric power, enabling long-distance, CO2-free freight transport with water vapour as the only emission.
With large-scale production starting in 2023, all key components are developed in-house and the FCPM can replace traditional engines in trucks, offering refuelling times of around 15 minutes and a range of up to 1,000 km on a single tank of hydrogen. Thousands of trucks worldwide already use the system, generating valuable data for further development and enabling applications in buses, maritime propulsion and decentralised electricity supply for data centres. The award underlines Bosch's position as a leader in hydrogen and fuel cell technology, illustrating its commitment to decarbonising the transport sector and advancing sustainable mobility solutions.
