Brunswick to expand its car terminal

More vehicles are expected to walk over water, since the recent announcement by Georgia Ports Authority's (GPA) executive director Griff Lynch of plans to expand the Colonel’s Island auto terminal storage at its East River Terminal. Of the approximately 400 sqkm, 80 are paved and used by Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics. International Auto Processing has leased another 200 sqkm it will occupy by May 2017. The long-term plan for the south side of Colonel’s Island comprises 2,200 sqkm in GPA-owned land for car handling operations. Moreover, the State of the Port has just opened two new warehouses totalling 19 sqkm for wood pellet storage along the river Brunswick. The facilities are expected to handle more than 600,000 t of wood pellets a year.
