                        Building up intermodal capacities in the LA basin
Union Pacific (UP) is investing heavily in its intermodal infrastructure in Southern California (USA). The US class I railroad has invested more than USD 275 million in the past five years, and additional investments are underway and planned.
The company plans to add more than 1 million t in lift capacities to its intermodal terminal ramps over the next few years, with a significant portion of growth anticipated in the LA basin.
Furthermore, UP is carrying out other major infrastructure upgrades in Southern California, for example in the Fritz Inland Empire Intermodal Terminal. Southern California is one of the USA’s key transport centres and is home to one of the nation’s fastest-growing warehousing districts. (ben)
