CAAC issues validation for converted B737-800

Aeronautical Engineers (AEI), a Miami (USA)-based passenger-to-freighter conversion specialist, has received a VSTC (VSTC0933) from the civil aviation administration of China (CAAC) for the p2f conversion for B737-800. The VSTC validates the original FAA supplemental type certificate awarded one year ago.

The AEI converted aircraft offers a maindeck payload of up to 23.9 t and incorporates 11 full height 88” x 125” container positions, plus an additional AEP/AEH position. It also includes new floor beams aft of the wing box, a large 86” x 137” main cargo door with a single vent door system and a flexible loading system.

AEI forecasts that roughly 750 B737-800 will be converted until 2060 with AEI capturing over 400 of those conversions, having already secured 111 firm orders and commitments. (ah)
