Callao’s record year

DP World’s terminal at the port of Callao (Peru) has reported a 19% rise in container throughput following the expansion of its Bicentennial Pier. The terminal handled a record 1.96 million teu in 2024, with total capacity now approaching 3 million teu. The upgraded facility can berth three ultra-large vessels simultaneously, strengthening Callao’s role as the country's leading logistics hub.

DP World invested over USD 3 billion at the site since 2010, with agricultural exports among the key beneficiaries. In 2024, the terminal facilitated USD 3.6 billion in agri exports and handled 85% of Peru’s blueberries to Asia. The expansion also brought 3,000 new jobs and carbon-cutting tech like hybrid cranes and electric trucks. (ah)
