Cancelled after 50 years of service

Effective 12 January 2020, Lufthansa will discontinue its flights from Frankfurt (Germany) to Jeddah (JED) in Saudi Arabia. The Germany airline explains that it was obliged to take this step because the medium-haul link with belly capacity was no longer profitable.

Before making its decision, the company had taken comprehensive measures to increase the economic efficiency of the service. The connection has been part of Lufthansa’s timetable since 1969.

The airline will continue to operate flights, also with maindeck capacity, to other destinations in the Middle Eastern Kingdom, such as the capital Riyadh (RUH) and Damman (DMM), the business metropolis on the Persian Gulf. (ah)
