Cargo Ai: cargo capacities stable in March 2023

Q1/2023 closed on a positive note showing signs of stability in terms of global capacity, tonnages as well as air freight yields, as may be seen in the report which compares month-on-month (MOM) data from March 2023 vis-à-vis February 2023, based on the total capacity on passenger and freighter aircrafts, retrieved from Cargointel.

Cargointel comparison shows that in the first 28 days of March overall global capacity was 7% higher than in February. The inter-regional capacity registered by Cargointel in March amounted to 2,709 kmt as compared to 2,537 kmt in February.

These figures are good indicators that demand began to stabilise in Q1/2023. This is confirmed by World ACD, which recorded firm average rates around 50% higher than pre-Covid levels and YoY tonnages down in single digit figure of -8%. (cj)
