CargoBeamer to build German terminal
CargoBeamer is set to construct its first proprietary terminal in Germany at Kaldenkirchen, near the Dutch border.
The facility, with an annual capacity for 228,000 loading units, will focus on shifting non-craneable semi-trailers from the roads to the railways, using the company’s automated transhipment system. The site will cover around 159,000 m² and open in phases from 2026 onwards.
Backed by the German federal railway authority, the project aims to unlock new capacities in the Rhine-Ruhr and Benelux markets. It follows the deployment of CargoBeamer’s technology at Calais.
"We're delivering the momentum needed to accelerate the modal shift across Europe", said CargoBeamer CEO Nicolas Albrecht. (js)
