Çelebi opens new cargo terminal in Indonesia
Çelebi Aviation has launched cargo operations at its new terminal at Kualanamu international airport (KNO) in Medan (Indonesia). Following its 2024 entry into the country with ground handling, the company has now expanded its Southeast Asian strategy with a facility covering 8,000 sqm.
The terminal handled 58,000 t of cargo last year and offers specialised services for pharmaceuticals, perishables, valuables and more. A phased upgrade will add cold chain and digital solutions including AI-supported tools, biometric access, and warehouse tracking systems. Çelebi will serve airlines including Garuda Indonesia, Singapore Airlines and Saudia.
Operations are managed mainly by local staff, supported by international training. The company aims to boost Sumatra’s logistics role and support 'National Logistics Ecosystem' (NLE) initiatives. (ah)
