Certification for new tank car model
Freight car manufacturer United Wagon Company (UWC) in Russia has been granted a certificate from the federal railway certification register for its new model of tank car for transporting chemicals.
The first batch of freight cars, destined for transportation and logistics company RN-Trans, has rolled off the production line. The tank car has a load capacity of 73 t and a volume of 88 cbm - 15 cbm (or 7 t) more than other similar freight cars on the market, which are mounted on 23.5 t bogies, UWC said.
The tank is hermetically sealed and has a bent-axis design to ensure maximum drainage. The upper part of the tank is fitted with a discharge valve that prevents excess pressure and vacuum formation. (ben)
