CFNR sells barge unit

The French inland waterway operator Compagnie Française de Navigation Rhénane (CFNR) has sold its barging unit to De Grave-Antverpia (DGA), a major actor in push-boats and barges in Belgium. The CFNR group, a pioneer in push-towing on the River Rhine, said in a written statement that this activity no longer had the required critical size in the group and that barge overcapacity does not permit long-term profitability. The sale of the barging unit is part of a restructuring scheme, as CFNR is set to become a service provider with about ten commercial and chartering agencies in six countries.
