China Airlines finalises B777F order

Taiwan-based China Airlines has finalised its agreement with Boeing to order six 777 Freighters to modernise its cargo fleet. The carrier, which currently operates one of the world's largest B747F fleets consisting of 18 units, plans to transition to the largest and longest range twin-engine freighters in the industry as it launches operations from Taipei to North America.

China Airlines had announced its intent to order up to six B777F (list price: USD 2.1 billion) at the Paris Air Show in June. The freighter can fly trans-Pacific missions (more than 6,000 nautical miles) with 20% more payload (102 t) than other large freighters.

Chairman Hsieh Su-Chien: "Air cargo is an important part of our overall business and the introduction of these new freighters will play an integral role in our long-term growth strategy." (ah)
