China opens another railfreight corridor
The new international freight corridor connects China’s capital Beijing and the Yunnan (Chinan) province with Southeast Asian countries. It was inaugurated by the launch of the international cold-chain freight train on the China-Laos railway on 14. October 2024, China Railways said. Loaded with 390 t of Laotian bananas, the maiden train set off from Kunming (Yunnan) and headed to Beijing.
The new "Beijing-Yunnan-Vientiane" railfreight service will be used to transport light industrial consumer goods, and mechanical and electronic products from China to other Asian countries, including Laos, Thailand and Singapore. (ben)
