Chinese cars shipped by train to Russian market

The Fesco Transportation Group, which is based in Russia, is launching a regular container train to carry cars from Chongqing (China) to the Kaluga region through Mongolia, expanding the geographical range of expedited overland services between China and Russia. The route goes through the China-Mongolia-Russia border crossings in Erlian/Zamyn-Uud/Naushki.

Delivery to the client’s warehouse in the Moscow region is performed with car transporters. Trains to Chongqing station will depart 2-4 times per month depending on clients’ needs. The new service will mainly focus on the transport of cars manufactured in China.

Planned freight volume is estimated at 200-400 teu per month. The first train with fifty 40 FT containers of Fesco, loaded with 150 cars, arrived recently at Vorotynsk station (Kaluga region). Total time en route was 17 days, which is 2.5 times faster than using the route through the Suez Canal. (ben)
