Chittagong, Kingston, Tema head global port delay rankings
Beacon’s April Port Performance Report reveals rising inland congestion across global terminals. Chittagong (pictured) leads the global delay chart, with vessels waiting over four days at anchor and containers dwelling more than nine days - seriously impacting South Asian export flows.
In West Africa, Tema and Lomé also show over 9-day average container dwell times. In the Americas, Kingston reports 9.1 days of yard delays, while Los Angeles and Long Beach post 7.9 and 7.0 days of total port delays respectively.
"Port congestion now often begins at the berth or yard, not offshore," said Beacon analysts. Meanwhile, European ports like Barcelona and Piraeus performed strongly, showing minimal disruptions. Beacon tracks over 100 global ports monthly, helping logistics players respond to shifting performance and supply chain bottlenecks. (ah)
