Collaring a contract in Kazakhstan
Blue Water Shipping (BWS) has - as a member of a consortium - secured another contract with TCO in Kazakhstan to supply transport and logistics services. The consortium, led by BWS in partnership with Kazmortransflot (KMTF), will be responsible for transporting 75 modules and cargo weighing up to 1,600 t from Kuryk to the Caspian Sea's port of Prorva. The latter is close to the Tengiz oil field in Kazakhstan.
BWS will be responsible for transportation and project management, while KMTF will supply and operate three specially designed module carrying vessels (MCVs). The newbuilds, which will be 113 m long and 21 m across the beam, are to be built by Vard at its yard in Romania.
The MCVs will be owned and operated by KMTF, which has subcontracted Topaz Energy and Marine for technical management. KMTF is a shipping company whose main activity is to develop Kazakhstan's national merchant marine fleet in the Caspian Sea and in the open seas.
