Consolidation centre in Ethiopia goes live

The Ethiopian freight forwarder Freighters International (Pabomi) and its partner Maersk have put their consolidation centre in Modjo Dry Port, Ethiopia into operation.

This multi-purpose facility was built as a hub for export or import cargo in Ethiopia. With direct links from Modjo Dry Port to Djibouti Port and industrial parks, it offers first mile delivery, consolidation, cargo fulfilment and supply chain management solutions.

Since decarbonisation is part of the strategy, the rail service that connects all the container freight stations to Djibouti Port runs fully on hydroelectric power. The unit's management will report to Carl Lorenz, managing director, Eastern Africa Area, A.P. Moller - Maersk. (sh)
