Covid-19: truck driving bans suspended

The restrictions for trucks from 7.5 t (weekend bans) on the Brenner Pass and across Austria have been put on hold, effective immediately. This special measure is valid until 3 April for the time being.

The aim is to ensure that supplies continue to reach the population during the corona crisis. The suspension of the bans shall also guarantee that supply chains with products for everyday needs on motorways and highways are not interrupted.

Yesterday (16.3.2020), the government of the Austrian state of Tyrol suspended the procedure of processing trucks in blocks at the German-Austrian frontier for the time being. Other countries, some German federal states, for instance, have temporarily revoked Sunday driving bans for trucks in their regions. (ben)
